If you have come to this page, you may be experiencing some of these symptoms:

  • Feelings of hopelessness, worthlessness, and guilt

  • Feelings of emptiness and numbness

  • Negative self talk

  • A sense of isolation

  • Angry outburst and irritability

  • Depressed mood, or just feeling down

  • Changes in weight or appetite

  • Less interest or pleasure in activities you usually enjoy

  • Loss of energy and motivation

  • Fatigue

  • Slowed thinking, moving and speaking

  • Difficulty concentrating

  • Thoughts of death or suicide.

Most people feel sad, lonely, or depressed at times. It's a normal response to loss, life's struggles, or emotional hurt. But sometimes these feelings become so overwhelming they can prevent us from leading our normal life.

Depression has many different faces and can look different in different people. Often people think of a more extreme version of feeling sad and not wanting to get out of bed. While this may be true for some people, in others it can feel more like irritability, anger, numbness, wanting to isolate yourself from others, doing everything with a led blanket, wanting to sleep a lot, etc.

Sometimes we hide our depression. The person people see at work, school, or socially, may be the life of the party and seem so together and happy. But behind closed doors is another version of our self. People have no idea the pain and isolation we feel. Or maybe we experience a depression that is all encompassing, and frequently miss work, school or social events because we just can’t find the motivation.

You are not alone and you don’t have to stay stuck. Your mood and your thoughts don’t have to determine what kind of day you have. You can regain control of your life and find balance. Therapy is very helpful in resolving depression.

In your first session, I will do an evaluation to better understand the nature of your depression.  From there, we will work collaboratively to help you stabilize, cope with and resolve your emotions.
